Frederick Boeckel, 1716-80, born in the Palatinate. He came with his wife to Pennsylvania in 1736, settling in Berks County, heard Count Zinzendorf preach, and was one of the founders of the church at Heidelberg. Later he was employed in the school at Germantown and on the farms at Christiansbrunn and Bethlehem, at which place after the common household ceased he took charge of the farm entirely. Of his first marriage there were one son and five daughters ; of his second marriage, one son.
