Taken from the translated excerpts of the Nazareth diaries 1776-1777 from the Moravian Archives: Through an express messenger from Bethlehem we received the sad news, that they there besides the many prisoners, take in a great part of wounded soldiers, and for that reason they have to grant to them the single brethren’s house. We were asked, when some of the brethren and sisters in Bethlehem would have to giveup their place, up that we should try to get some places for them in Nazareth. For that very purpose the brethren Lembke, Peter and Detmer came together in a Conference and talked about this matter. They found so many place s in old- and New-Nazareth as were possible. After the Conference, this matter was communicated to the Brethren and sisters in the village. From here and from our good neighbos 11 waggons should drive down and should bring up the things of the single brethren, who should move partly into the Hall and partyly to Chrisitan Spring. But 8 waggons, which were on the way to Bethlehem already, were through an express messenger contramonirt, and only 6 single brethren came up and they were quartered in Christian Spring.
